Accepting and completing deliveries

Any time you're online, Postmates will send you new delivery offers within the Fleet app. Here's a step-by-step guide to accepting and completing all deliveries that come your way. 


1. Accepting a Delivery Request

You’ll be alerted at the bottom of your screen when a new delivery request becomes available. When the request appears, you'll be able to see how many deliveries are to be picked up at the merchant and the merchant name and location. Tap "Accept" if you'd like to accept the delivery offer.

You can also sign up for auto accept and have the next delivery offer automatically sent to your phone. 

2. Going to the Pickup Location

The quickest route will be shown in the Fleet app, but you can choose your preferred navigation app under "Preferences." 

3. Picking Up Orders and Paying

When you arrive at the merchant, the order will either already be placed by Postmates or you may need to place the order yourself. The Fleet App will let you know if an order is prepaid or not. Postmates will automatically load your Postmates Prepaid Card with enough funds if you need to pay for the order.

Note: You must use your Postmates Prepaid Card to pay for any and all orders. 

Picking up orders that were already placed:

  1. The Fleet app will know when you've reached the pickup location by your GPS signal.
  2. If there is a shopping list, tap “Shopping List” to view the order.
  3. Pick up all of the items on the Shopping List.
  4. Use your Postmates Prepaid Card to complete the purchase if the order requires payment.
  5. Take a clear photo of the entire receipt.
  6. Enter the total order amount on the receipt.

Placing an order at the restaurant or store:

  1. Tap "Order Details" to view the order
  2. Order or pick up all of the items shown on the Shopping List.
  3. If an item that the customer ordered is unavailable, you may need to contact them for a substitution. You can contact the customer by tapping the "Support" button on the delivery screen. Then you will be given the option to call or message the customer.
  4. Use your Postmates Prepaid Card to complete the purchase.
  5. Take a clear photo of the entire receipt.
  6. Enter the total order amount on the receipt.

4. Completing Pick-up and Starting Drop-off

After you’ve confirmed that you have all of the items in the order, tap "Start Drop-off" and head to the customer.

5. Dropping Off an Order

  1. When you arrive at the drop-off destination, be sure to read all drop-off instructions.
  2. Always do your best to contact the customer when you arrive. Top Postmates suggest taking the order to your customer's door.
  3. Time to hand off the order! Top Postmates suggest confirming the recipient is the correct person. Remember—do not indicate that you have completed the drop-off in the app until you've finished handing the delivery to the customer.
  4. Once you've finished handing off the order, complete it in your app by tapping the "Delivery Unconfirmed" and selecting "Deliver to Customer." 
  5. You will be presented with the total you’ve earned from the delivery and the option to leave feedback.
